This has helped me a GREAT deal! I thought my phone was "broken" and or I had done some setting that couldn't be reversed.

Thank you so much and I hope the RIM and/or Gmail Team see this and help do an update that will allow the "All Mail" to be shown instead of only the "inbox" on the blackberry.

Thank you again!

I experienced this problem and it's been driving me crazy! I use filters to keep a lot of junk off my blackberry; when I had to set up my account on a new phone I started getting a ton of junk that I didn't want to see.

When's that 4g iphone coming out again?

Hate Microsoft Spyware but Love to piss off people who just don't "get it"?
I personally ban anyone using Microsoft Windows (Any retail Version)
from my networks and LOVE the reaction I'm getting.
These idiots think they have a right to use Microsoft Spyware on my network and then pretend to feel Violated when we block their spyware from accessing our data!

Get a clue Morons!
You do NOT have the right to violate our security and repeat offenders will be treated as terrorists.

Also, some people purposefully exclude "All Mail" from IMAP access using the Google Labs "Advanced IMAP Controls" because that folder is undesirable to many IMAP clients. Most notably, Apple Mail users routinely disable access to "All Mail" to avoid dupe emails.

Here's the mail pushed to your BlackBerry about one to ten minutes after setting up a Gmail or Google Apps email account where "All Mail" is disabled for IMAP or if the account is localized in any language outside of English that illustrates the issue of not having a label called "All Mail":

The issue is actually worse...

Google Mail localizes their labels, since "All Mail" is in English, if you change your language settings, BIS *stops working*. For example, if you set it to French, your "All Mail" label is called "Tous les messages", or in Spanish it's "Todos", or in Lithuanian it's "Visi laiškai".

Please, RIM, go back to using standards-based INBOX for delivery of email for Google Mail.

I suspect that the special GMAIL plugin works the same way for Starred and Spam messages, where it may not work with non-English Google accounts because those labels are localized.

I have been having this problem too (messages that skip my GMail Inbox showing up in my BB Messages Inbox). I thought I was going crazy because I couldn't find anyone else who seemed to be having this problem in my Google search attempts. I'll have to give this a try and see if it works for me. Thanks!

But perhaps I'll also log a case with RIMM.

Looks like RIMM still does not want to acknowledge that they messed up the IMAP calls to Google Mail. My case with RIMM is still open and they have no updates on it, which means they are ignoring it. =(

Thanks so much for this workaround. I spent a couple of days with AT&T & got nowhere.

The only difference in my experience was that it didn't let me enter the blank password. So I gave it a non-gmail address (non yahoo or gmail or whatever else it has an enhancement for), then had to select the "choose my own settings" option on two different pages.

So far so good! Thanks again!

@ruby, it was not in their ORIGINAL Terms Of Service, when they first started business. It is the most recent TOS that says they can delete images. Their original TOS said "unlimited storage" and never required anyone to buy a subscription to anything. Many of the complaints are from their older customers whom had their accounts wiped without warning.

I am beyond mad! I have 3 years worth of photos of my children uploaded and organized on dotphoto and I add photos monthly if not biweekly to the site. I logged on one day and it was telling me that my account was inactive. After finally getting through to a person on the phone they had the audacity to tell me that they were bought out and that they had sent me emails warning me that my pictures would be deleted -total and complete bs! I NEVER received any emails. I was practically crying on the phone and the nasty abnoxious woman wouldn't even say she was sorry....she basically hung up the phone on me and told me too bad....I am disgusted and frustrated and can't imagine how this is legal. I am curious to know if you all complained to the better business bureau or know of any class action lawsuits?????

Merry Christmas Johnny! Remember, the best gift is being there for your friends and family.

I have no doubt that your family appreciates and is glad for all the hard work you are putting in. The economy will get better, in the meantime enjoy the Christmas time and have a happy holiday.

I don't think dotPhoto can get anybody's photos back. I think they are covering up a systems crash. Maybe that is why they moved to using Amazon S3 as the backhaul data store now. Most likely their own infrastructure sucks! Or they never used redundant storage of any kind.

I sure hope that is some class-action lawsuit against them for damages. For some people dotPhoto lost their treasured memories.

However, for myself, I believe in having my own backup copies of my images. At least stored in more than one place, where I can get to them. Not just with one company or on one hard drive.

My Grandmother recently passed & our family was putting together a "collage" of family photos and I had the only recent photos of her healthy and happy @ a big Italian dinner. My computer had recently lost the hard-drive an I was not able to recover recent photos, but I thought "Thank goodness I have them backed up on DotPhoto". Well DotPhoto just inactivated me three days prior with to my discovery. NO EMAIL WARNING, NOTHING....so customer service activated me for one day to upgrade my account & that day happen to be the day of the FUNERAL. What a slap in the face, not only did I not get the last photos of my Grandma but the only day they allowed me to upgrade to save my photos was the day of the funeral!!!!! Below is my correspondence.

Alrighty then, I STILL CANNOT SIGN IN TO MY DAMN ACCOUNT TO PURCHASE THE MEMBERSHIP!!!!!!!! What don't you understand about that? I try to sign in & my account is inactive, if I try to purchase a membership, it says my ID already exist, I am trying frantically to sign up and save my pictures but DOTPHOTO SUPPORT IS NOT HELPING ME DO THAT!!!!!!

A solution for your issue has been suggested by Jenn Link.
Solution:
Hello, I am sorry for your loss. This is not something that we are able to extend on an account by account basis. Once the account was re-activated it was only allowed for one additional day since over 30 days were already given.

Because we had an overwhelming surge of requests to restore inactive accounts, DotPhoto has extended the grace period. For a very short while, it will be possible to restore your account. This will end when our old server account is no longer available and this may happen very soon. Please take action immediately. Extensions are not possible.

PURCHASING A MEMBERSHIP IS THE ONLY WAY TO RESTORE AN INACTIVE ACCOUNT.
· Purchase a paid membership plan with a credit card - Login to your account - If you DO NOT purchase a membership, your account and ALL it's contents WILL BE DELETED SOON. Once deleted it can not be recalled.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Ticket Information:
Ticket #:5521-10002736
Date Created:10/9/2009 10:01 PM EDT
Summary:You inactivated my account with no prior notice!!!!!!!
Details:To whom this may concern,

Ticket #:5521-10002128

Apparently you did not even really read the email I sent you, because YOU ACTIVATED MY ACCOUNT FOR THE ONE DAY I WAS AT THE FUNERAL!!!!!!!!! Was I suppose to leave my grandmother funeral to appease some ONE DAY ONLY ACCESS to my account. This is completely unacceptable behavior. Since Dot-Photo is holding all of my photos hostage, I need access to my account to purchase my membership and access my pictures. Is there someone I can talk to beside a customer service rep, preferably management on this matter? Because the snide comment "of the three emails you sent me" rubs me the wrong way. It is 2009 & people use SPAM FILTERS that could account for the fact I never got "the Three Emails you sent me in September!!!!!" Are you really this pompous as a company?

Unbelievably appalled

OpenDNS only helps when China is "changing" DNS lookups. OpenDNS has helped in the past, but recently it seems that recently the ISPs are required to block foreign DNS lookups. When using OpenDNS, lookups timeout. Changing back to the ISP DNS servers, it resolves. Maybe it is different in Shanghai, but in Guangzhou using OpenDNS is not helping.

Heck, my client has their own proxy server in the US, even that is not working. The requests are processed through the proxy, but all of sudden the browser in China shows "connection interrupted". Using the same proxy in the US, everything works. So China must now have a way of "seeing" into the proxy stream and breaking it.

Has your client tried setting up <a href="https://www.opendns.com/" rel="nofollow">OpenDNS</a> on their network (or even individual workstations)? I'm in Shanghai and it's helped me get around the annoying Great Firewall issues with Google.com, Gmail, Analytics, etc. all day today.

excluding that bozo that keeps posting "make $600 a week with Google Wave", which is bogus (guess they want to drive traffic from "get rich quick wannabees" to their dumb website).

The law that MaoBama signed doesn't go into effect for 9 months and there has to be a way for them to recoup there losses from dead beats. The new law cripples there ability and now will use the backs of good creditors to offset the dead beats, a common trend in the current climate.

Hummmm strange how things he says don't match what he does, yet no one cares.

Thanks for the referral to that styling guide.
As for 2 captchas ... well ... in a day, I already got a ton of comment SPAM. Having the 2 captchas seems to have made it stop (for now).

Yep! You can even get crazy with the CSS for the comment threading. See <a href="http://cdharrison.com/2008/12/wordpress-27-comments-style-starter-1/" rel="nofollow">Chris Harrison's styling guide</a>.

It saved me a ton of work since my CSS is quite poor...

PS. You have two captcha's... that's a little much don't you think...?
